Love Your Melon, an apparel brand that donates hats to children battling cancer, begins its newest crew on Berry’s campus.

ROME, Ga. – In order to improve the lives of children battling cancer, sophomore Stanton Quinnelly has started a Love Your Melon (LYM) crew for Berry College.
An apparel brand run by college students, LYM has reserved 45,000 hats to donate to children battling cancer through its buy one, give one program.
“I started it because I saw a bunch of my friends doing it at their school and I thought it would be cool to have and a great way to volunteer,” Quinnelly said. “In high school, I worked a lot with Cure Childhood Cancer and they don’t reach all the way to Rome, so I was looking someway to help children with cancer and found this.
Quinnelly and sophomores Jacob Belcher, Sarah Parker and Carissa Yeaney are college ambassadors who raise awareness for LYM’s mission and represent the brand through promotions and sales and engage with the brand’s charitable programming initiatives.
LYM only officially recognizes 20 members, but the crew can have as many volunteers possible.
“We aren’t just raising money, we are visiting these kids, we are going to hang out with them and becoming their friend and trying to put a smile on their face,” Yeaney said. “Our main goal is to bring joy to these children who can’t always enjoy the everyday things that other kids their age can.”
The crew needs students to purchase a hat on loveyourmelon.com and choose “Berry College” as their campus crew when they check out. Each time the crew earns 50 points, they receive a package from LYM with different things to further spread the organization’s message.
