Aside from the s’mores, hot chocolate, crunchy leaves and hayrides, the best part of fall is definitely the fashion.
Though the temperature has barely changed since early September, fall will eventually bring cooler weather and many wardrobe changes.
As far as the typical staple accessories and styles of fall go, many of the timeless classics carry over. Vests are here for the long haul. Puffer vests especially. Pair a puffer vest with a sweater, a flannel, a denim shirt or a plain t-shirt and you are good to go.
When you are running late to your morning class but still want to look cute, flannel and denim are always something to fall back on.
My personal go-to look is anything layered. Sweaters over t-shirts make for a comfortable, casual, effortless, but still chic style. Buy a couple of big sweaters in cream or grey and you’re basically covered for the entire duration of fall.
As far as shoes go, any kind of boot will work. The basic riding boot paired with skinny jeans and the vest flannel combo is perfect for whatever the fall weather will throw at you. This year, booties and over the knee boots will also be taking over the style world. Booties are easy, because they go with everything. Skirts, dresses, jeans, leggings, capris and everything in between. Over the knee boots, on the other hand, are a little harder to style. Pair them with super skinnies or a flowy dress, and that should do the trick.
This fall, you cannot go wrong with clogs. Peep toes and buckles, whatever the style, clogs are all the rage, and like boots, you can pair with them anything, especially dresses and skinny jeans.
Specific to this year, cross-tie shirts are gaining momentum. Pair one of these with some skinny jeans and a bralette and you have the perfect going out outfit.
Another thing to be on the lookout for this fall is suede or denim almost miniskirts.
For accessories, chokers are making a comeback like no other. Throw a choker with a gem on with any fall outfit to piece the whole thing together.
I am not a huge accessory fan, but I generally pair my nicer outfits with a single bangle, or if I am feeling really risky, maybe two.
Once the clothes styling has been accomplished, throw on some highlighter and matte lipstick and you’re good to go.
Despite everything mentioned above, it is also perfectly acceptable to own your own style. Personal branding is popular and personal style falls right into that. Pick a style and go with it.
