The time of year is near when you usually find people either crying in the bathroom, calling to complain to their parents or sitting in a room for hours waiting for their number to be called. That’s right— the time for room selection is coming. But this year is different and the stress will hopefully be at a minimum among students. Residence Life has decided to steer a new way for us to select the dorm of our dreams so this doesn’t have to be a day full of anxiety. Unlike previous years, there is an organized plan. So don’t weep, and be positive about waiting to choose where you’re living next year, because we are.

In the past few years, there have been rising seniors who wanted to live off campus but were told they couldn’t when room selection came around. These people were denied this want— until they already committed to a place at Berry and got an e-mail during the summer asking them to live off campus. It seemed that Residence Life was a little more than unorganized, and because of this, frustration spread.

There will be a change with room selection this year and hopefully confusion and frustration will not be as high. Since Berry plans on keeping around the same number of students, hopefully study rooms without a sink or closet will not need to be used as rooms for students. Also, uprising seniors, it is time for you to shine. They are selecting a certain number of students to live off campus if you have a lower lottery number and withhold a certain grade point average. Residence Life is planning for seniors to live off campus, which is unlike any of the recent past years. This is good news. Oh, the organization. Oh, the humanity!

Try not to freak out about where you’re living this year. Residence Life has your back and promises to not leave you homeless next to the Ford cat Henry.
