The men’s and women’s tennis teams have wrapped up their regular seasons and will begin preparations for the conference tournament which is scheduled for April 24 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The women’s team finished the season with a 10-2 overall record and a 6-1 conference record. They lost their last game on April 12 to the top ranked Sewanee Tigers.

Junior Heidi Seabaugh explained how the Vikings were able to find success this year.

“This year’s season has been a lot of fun. Going into the season, I did not think we were going to be as successful as last year because we lost two of our top four players,” she said. “We recruited two new players who have contributed a lot to our major successes this season. I believe a lot of our success comes from motivation and support from our teammates and coaches. The team gets along well, which makes practicing, traveling and competing fun.”

The Tigers will likely be their toughest competition in the tournament, but they will need to replicate their winning ways from the regular season if they hope to make it to the championship match.

Seabaugh said the team is very optimistic going into the tournament.

“The team is headed into the conference tournament with a clear mind and ready to compete,” she said. “We are going to give everything we have when we are on the court and hopefully the hard work we have put into the season will show.”

The men’s team finished the season at 9-4 overall with a 3-4 conference record. The team had decisive wins over Centre, Oglethorpe and Hendrix.

The men had a strong start to the season as they won their first seven matches in a row.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will hope to keep their season going as they compete in the tournament on April 24.
