Live webcast of Sunday afternoon’s action in last home match of season
By Raven Wilson
Viking Fusion, in partnership with COM 311: Sports Journalism students, will broadcast Sunday afternoon’s volleyball match against conference foe Birmingham Southern live from The Cage beginning at 2 p.m.
The broadcast, anchored by commentators Austin Post and Blake Hudson, will be accessible from either the Viking Fusion or Berry Athletics webpages.
COM 311 students will be operating cameras, controlling audio and graphics, and announcing and directing the broadcast, the second live webcast of the volleyball season by Viking Fusion. The students also broadcast a Sept. 23 match against Oglethorpe.

“We’ve learned a lot in the class, so there’s a lot more to bring to show this second time,” said Post, color commentator “It can only get better from where we started.”
The sports journalism students have concentrated their efforts on Berry Volleyball this season, collaborating with Mika Robinson, head coach of the 18-5 Vikings.
“I knew about the quality and professionalism of Berry’s volleyball program, but second-hand,” said Brian Carroll, instructor of COM 311 and a professor of Communication. “Now we know first-hand, and that’s provided my students with unparalleled opportunities to learn how to cover sports.”
In addition to broadcasting in collaboration with Viking Fusion, the students have written game reports, feature stories, opinion columns and public service announcements, and they have covered a press conference and produced a weekly coach’s show with Robinson.
“We can’t say enough good things about Mika, her players and staff,” Carroll said. “They have been a joy to work with, and we hope we’ve made at least a few more people aware of what a good thing Berry has in its volleyball program.”
