New Sisters Theatre dedicated at Blackstone

On Friday, the theatre department hosted a dedication event and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Sisters Theatre in Blackstone Hall. Donors, trustees, administrators, faculty and theatre students attended the event.

The theatre was dedicated by Audrey Morgan, who is a supporter of the arts at Berry and was a primary donor for the project. She chose the name “Sisters Theatre” to honor her close relationship with her sister, who passed away recently. A plaque in the lobby of the new theatre details the story of the sisters and the reason for the name.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony on the front steps of Blackstone Hall, attendees ate dinner on the grounds and attended a performance of “Crimes of the Heart”, which was the first full production in the new space.

“We are so grateful not only for the space but for everyone’s generosity,” Director of Theatre Anna Filippo said. “It just makes working on our craft that much more exciting and much more beneficial to our students.”

The next production in the space will be a Christmas show called “Make Merry”, which was written by junior Jack Padgett. The show will run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.
